The McFadden Project -
Helping our vets take a step forward

“We believe that being unbanked is a major obstacle to homeless veterans taking steps forward to rebuild their lives, such as renting an apartment,” says Mike Ring, Air Force Veteran and Old Glory Bank CEO. “We are changing that,” Ring adds.

Overcoming challenges.

Some of the challenges homeless veterans encounter are their reluctance to walk into a physical bank branch and not having a physical mailing address at which to receive items like debit cards, bank statements, and account disclosures.

The McFadden Project by Old Glory Bank offers answers to these challenges for unbanked, unhoused veterans:

  • Fully online account opening with no branch needed.
  • A virtual debit card issued upon account opening, which the veteran can use for tap-to-pay purchases and to withdraw cash at special ATMs.
  • A US-based customer service team that understands that our veterans may be suffering from PTSD and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
  • Our commitment to ensuring that a lack of physical address will not hinder the account opening process for our veterans experiencing housing insecurity. Veterans may utilize alternatives such as a VA Coordinator's office.
  • Statements and disclosures accessible online via the individual's mobile phone.
  • Direct deposit of VA benefits can be easily set up through the app on a mobile device.
  • Old Glory Pay, OGB's proprietary payment platform, for sending and receiving money securely without the risk of cash.

Mr. Thomas McFadden

The McFadden Project was named in honor of Mr. Thomas McFadden, the father of Old Glory Bank VP of Operations Bridget Woytowicz. Mr. McFadden died in 2023 after a 50-year struggle with complications from PTSD resulting from the Vietnam War. Mr. McFadden never experienced homelessness, but his struggles with PTSD have driven Bridget’s passion for helping veterans, and Old Glory Bank is proud to name this important project in honor of her father.

Old Glory Bank also supports our service men and women through:

  • VA Home Loans - with Home Loan specialists whose expertise can guide vets to the right loan for their specific need.

  • Old Glory Protect - a $100,000 line-of-duty death benefit free for active-duty military, law enforcement, firefighters, and US Border Patrol agents with direct deposit into an Old Glory Bank account.

  • Charitable Round-Up - allows Old Glory Bank customers to round up every purchase they make with their Old Glory Bank debit card to the nearest dollar, with 100 percent of that extra change going to partner charities that support in-need and at-risk veterans and their families.
